Frank Copplestone of Westcountry was MD of Southern Television when they lost their franchise. Westcountry didn't last long before selling out to Carlton.

Once upon a time Ms Susan King used to present a children's television series, entitled, Horses Galore, that was actually aired on the BBC One channel from 1977 until 1979.🐴

The late great Ian Stirling appeared to be remarkably cheerful in his IVC slot despite the grim news for TSW. Perhaps he already knew he had a contract in the offing with Westcountry? Sue King and Dominic Heale were a class act from an era of received pronunciation and consummate professionalism in regional television news. Then came Westcountry Live. Ugh!

Hardly true because if you watch the very last edition of TSW Today Ian is seen sobbing at the conclusion of the show, to me the most likely scenario for that appearance you mentioned was probably an effort by Ian Sterling to uplift the spirits both in and out of studio at a very sad day for the TSW staff as mentioned in this video.

2:57 TSW had referred to Westcountry as WTV - that is like TVS referring to Meridian as MTV, or Three East referring to Anglia as ATV! Abbreviations for abbreviations sake!

Sorry, hit the dislike button instead of reply by accident - bloody phones! Can I undislike it? Anyways, I think the WTV reference by Alan Cuthbertson and on the astons was to keep it consistent with the "Franchise Auction" slide. However, in the intro Dominic refers to WTV as Westcountry Television. Perhaps not totally consistent!

TSW - High Quality Programming, like that appalling opening night show with Lenny Bennett, The Cut Price Comedy Show on Channel 4, and That's My Dog. Yes, I've been in mourning since 1993 missing that type of high quality programming.

We can tell that's sarcasm.

She moved to HTV West in Bristol to co-present their main news programme for a while and had a stint presenting a Taste of the West. After that she disappeared from view, sadly. She was a real asset for TSW and much missed.
