ITV World Cup 98 opening titles

ITV called upon Jean Michel Jarre to provide the music for its coverage of France 98, and he came up with Rendez-vous.

I like the theme purely for the nostalgia. It's musically diabolical. That late 90s trance music that hasn't aged at all well. BBC won the intros hands down at this tournament.

...ITV's match themes were always the kind of badge thumping, lifting your spirits before the match anthems the BBC very rarely delivered. Using Jellice Ball from CATS and Pavarotti's Nessun Dorma never did it for me like the BBC's choice of presenters and experts, particularly of recent years!

I agree, I hadn't remembered it and I can see why! Awful yet mercifully forgettable bland dance tune, preceded by an advert that does nothing to get one into the mood.

The fact the Pavane intro is so memorable, speaks volumes. The tune is so beautiful and haunting, whereas this one screams Carling and water jets
