Because you could be wrong so you want proof. Many people have trust issues and find it hard to trust people. I have only grown up watching failed relationships etc so for me I do find it hard trusting others since I've seen so much that has taught me to not trust others. If I decided to go with that feeling I would never be capable of having a form of relationship with anyone. This is why relationships are so fragile these days, people generally do not trust each other and make accusations without proof. The issue is these people decide to take it to media but testing your partner is not a bad idea. Blindly trusting people and randomly accusing people due to a lack of trust are both problematic.
