You have to look at the similar pattern that the 900s have with the 800s, that's why you should also look at the first 9 thousand that ends in 10, which is related to the last digit, that's how I deduced it.

For floor 55, the difference between the first numbers is half of the difference between the second numbers. For a clearer explanation: 7 = 12 20 = 38 2 = 2 10 = ? Difference between 7 and 20 is 13, difference between 12 and 38 is 26. 13 is half of 26 The difference between 20 and 2 is 18, and the difference between 38 and 2 is 36, again, 18 is half of 36. The difference between 2 and 10 is 8, so the difference between 2 and the final answer has to be double of 8, so that 8 is half of the difference. 8 x 2 = 16 so the answer is 16 + 2, which is 18 :)
