For full appreciation of the choreography for the first two songs I recommend the dance practice or show performance.(watching the official MV will give you a full appreciation of their concept). I'm excited you decided to dive into ITZY as they're one of my favorites! As a long time kpop fan I understand your concerns about the female choreographies seeming boring. Different years have different trends, and for a long while cute/girl next door was reigning. My main thought is that boy groups tend to be faster while girl groups tend to be more technical (not saying there aren't crossovers, just what the standards are). Its not to say one is inherently better or worse than the other, just that they're different. The main things I like to point out to people without a dance background is that when things are slower the mistakes are easier to see, and when things are slower your balance can play very heavily into how hard something actually is. NCT U's "7th Sense" and Red Velvet's "Be Natural" are very good examples of this. Late third gen into fourth gen girls is seeing the rise and return of girl crush/mature concepts, and a lot of the new choreographies seem to be meshing components from both. I'm very excited to see whats coming with groups like ITZY Aespa and PIXY, amongst others. I'm hoping you keep exploring, i'm excited to watch

Not sure if you notice or not, but the MVs from other agency or old generation, they don't have that much of camera movement or camera focus trick, But since JYP debut Twice and Itzy, they have incorporated a lot of designated camera sequence into their dancing choreography as well. P.S: Itzy last few songs dive into the trending topic of youngster nowaday for eg. Mafia in the morning is about Mafia game (or in some countries refer as Wolf Killing game where Mafia or Wolf kill at night but acting innocent in the morning), while Swipe is about what we did with tiktok or instagram.

Excited to see where this GG series of yours goes! When if comes to choreo, I think you should really check out Pixy. Right now, there’s no group doing it like them in terms of uniqueness and complexity. They include quiet a bit of modern/contemporary styles as their choreo focuses a lot on storytelling and imagery. Especially in the Intro for their Wings live stages/dance practice. Check out their recent double title comeback with Addicted and Bewitched. Also check out their debut, Wings. They also have a dance performance for their song, The Moon, that’s insanely good. They said they wanted to try more boyish choreo with that one and the use of props in it isn’t something you see a lot with GGs or even groups in general. Unfortunately they’re from a small company and don’t get the recognition that they deserve. Definitely give them a chance!

You should look at: "itzy performance practice live vocals" on youtube. It was a practice, the studio liked it so much they released it without telling them. It is live video of them singing "Not Shy" live while doing a dance practice instead of them just dancing to a recording of the song. It is amazing to see them sing that well with such active dance movement.

I get what you mean about gg dances being "easy" I know is not easy, but not that complicated either. I usually like strong choreos with hard hitting movements, gg usually focus on the hips and more girly/feminine moves, which is okay. Now if you like some gg choreo like that, I recommend "Addicted" by Pixy, I think is a kinda new group idk much about them but during Ateez promotions last cb i saw one stage of them, DAMN their choreo was HARD, i never saw that type of choreo in a gg before, its a the sam level of a bg choreo. Its so good. You can notice in the way they dont use heels on stage as usually gg do, becase their choreo is hard af so it'd be difficult to do it in heels.
