IU is one of the few singer who takes you there every time she sings because she sings with emotions and if you understand Korean, her songs are so much better! Translations are only about 50% accurate and this song is my favorite in the album 💜💙

If you check the lyrics, you will find that the contents of of "Troll" and "Empty Cup" are related, and the same is true for "My Sea" and "Ah Puh". The order of the album songs is also very cleverly arranged.

thank you mario ... this is me, your old iu-watcher :) glad to see you back in iu again yes, my sea is written by her, and actually is very deep. I can go on and on abt the layered messages here and the connection to other songs, but I guess I should not, lol. You understand the gist : its a deep and meaningful song abt self-search. I wholeheartedly agree w/ your sentiment of singer is not all about power and technique, but also delivery. This is quite a blunt statement : I think you'll fail to understand iu if you just look on "vocal" side. This is not just for you, but also to many new fans... IU is all abt "growth". She's loved bcs she is actually an average girl, with a lot of potential but she bravely fights her way in kpop/ kmusic industry. Its reassuring to see her, who just average and honest girl with a lot of potential in 2009/ 2010, slowly rise up in the industry by put a lot, A LOT of effort ... IU is amazing and gorgeous and she kicked ass on this song on many levels (writing, performance, etc. etc.)! Kudos to her and the producers/arrangers. A masterpiece. That said, I highly recommend Sejeong's cover of this song. Sejeong is a huge proponent of IU and also an even better singer. In her cover, she pretty much cops IU's performance but adds her superior strength, technique, and feel. There are a few different vids of her doing this song. The one I'm talking about is the one where whe is wearing a white top, with her hair up, standing in front of a mic. That's the one with her real serious performance. 🙂
