as a basketball coach of 35 years, i can't imagine the precarious task of instilling discipline among kids earning 6 or 7 figures annually, compounded with unfettered free agency. want to bench your 7 figure center? you think the AD won't want to have a word with you? just a nightmare for a coach.

No matter the finances, a coach cannot cede control of his team to players. That's why alignment of the AD and coach is so important. Clearly, Dolson was smart enough to back Cignetti as he asserted control of his team.

Players need to embrace the triple threat philosophy when catching the ball. The first thought is "can I shoot"? Secondly, "can I pass?". Thirdly, " can I dribble?" With practice, these concepts, in this order, are simultaneous. With that said, you must always be a threat that is prepared to shoot. When you are not in this mindset, you allow the defense to have an advantage. Leal, Galloway, don't seem to have this dimension in their game. Unfortunately, Carlyle and Reneau do.

I’ve sort of had this feeling for awhile. JT is good sometimes great but not consistently great. He’ll break and take it to the house but he’s not a complete back just a home run hitter. The Colts struggle with leaning 1 way or another and it is like the only identity they have is when JT has a break out game. Then they try to be something else but they are not. The line and JT always seem to have this 1 thing they do well and that’s run the ball. Anything outside of that = poor execution and little success. It’s the main reason Steichen offense looks like Reichs at times. There are no other options. I don’t foresee this changing with Ballard still around.

Weird take. Rice clearly screwed up. He admitted it but also tried to downplay it by saying “there was confusion”. It means he screwed up. It’s on video, Reneau immediately lashed out at rice after he missed the shot for not going in the right direction which resulted in everyone getting clogged up in the corner. Kent playing obtuse

Sadly, Ballard has absolutely sucked at basically all of his first round draft picks that he didn’t trade away. He’s just a poor evaluator of talent at the top level. I feel like he’s always trying to find a ‘hidden gem’ and prove he’s smarter than everyone else. And he’s failed miserably in that endeavor. Trey Gallaway is a mediocre Division I player, whose ability seems to be in decline. With a 14-7 record heading into the last 11 games, including 1 in the Big Ten tournament, it is possible the Hoosiers will finish the season 14-18. There is no reason to feel optimistic about the rest of this season or next season.
