The cubes are trolls/ media. In the MV, she is deaf/mute, he is partially blind - it may seem there is no fathomable way these two can understand each other. This video is dedicated to artists, great Korean idols. The cube represents the Korean music and film industry, where every artist is under threat of social pressure, where one wrong move can ruin their careers, where they can be intimidated by the media and end their lives, living under stress and constant fear. Through the lens of a video camera, artists, idols of many, are beautiful and happy, but in real life they are very vulnerable. The Industry sucks all the juice out of them and then throws them away as if they were old and unnecessary clothes. In South Korea, the big music lobbies have a way of treating artists that is scary. If they see that they are good and successful, they take everything and more out of each of them, becoming ruthless. But when they have been exploited to the point of exhaustion, they leave them aside like broken toys. More than one artist has ended up committing suicide. Everything is very sad. At its end the trolls/ media come to consume another artist and fandom and discard it like a pile of clothes and IU is ready to fight but V (the fans) steps in front of her to defend her and their bond, but they are met with a bitter end. A sad reality every artist must face someday. She sheilds V's good eye to protect him from the inevitable. .😭😭😭😭

That was soo well said. Someone else mentioned something that I didn't notice to their level of detail...so if the scars they bare are their reality, whether actual or emotional, they are gone through the camera lens...but so is her lip piercing. Through the Lens she or they become presentable to their peers. JiHye was more emo/grunge in reality...or edgy but through the lens she is softer, angelic and generically approachable. TaeJoon remained mostly the same in personality but was transformed more physically to be received well. This is such an amazing short film.

You made me cry again after watching you tear up. This MV has me in an emotional chokehold for the past two weeks....the song plays_I cry. The MV plays_I cry! But they did an amazing job portraying TarJoon and JiHye's final journey....together. I need a prequel MV from them...not even kidding.

The premise is that V is blind in one eye. And IU is deaf and mute. And the cube is "cleansing" the world of defective people.

the meaning behind her song is about IU character is deaf and taehyung's one eye is blind. That's why she uses sign language when they're eating and she cover taehyung"s left eye at the end to protect it. One theory that i saw, the couple represents aging people who are close to death and the cube represents in inevitable death. They were reminiscing their youth through the cam recorder which is all cheerful, bright and colorful. However, the reality is not as beautiful, when its time for you to go, you have to go. They spent their time together loving eachother until their last breath.

Audience booing the visually impaired and hearing impaired people singing about love on stage I think it has a similar meaning to the cube. People do not accept differences and individuality. 3. In the last scene, IU’s right hand was strange, so I looked up Korean sign language. Close your right hand slightly and hit your chest 2~3 times = Dangerous 😭😭

I think the scene in the banquet hall was really well done. When you see them through their perfect imagery they are able to face people wearing dark outfits (they are probably the people who points fingers, mock and harass the lead characters).
