IU wrote the lyrics for “My Sea” while reflecting on her unusually long twenties (starting her career at the age of 15) and the emotions she felt during that time. This song is divided into three verses, each representing her early, mid, and late twenties. In her early twenties, she often felt self-critical and harsh towards herself. In her mid-twenties, she found some peace by looking back at her past self. By her late twenties, although she hadn’t solved all of life’s mysteries, she gained the confidence to move forward. IU suffers from a condition called patulous eustachian tube. This condition causes the eustachian tube to remain abnormally open, leading to symptoms such as a feeling of fullness in the ear or hearing one’s own voice echoing. This can result in difficulty hearing, tinnitus, and the sensation of hearing one’s own breathing and voice. Due to this condition, IU has sometimes sung with earplugs and mentioned that it is related to her tension. “Epilogue” is a fan song that conveys heartfelt emotions and gratitude towards fans. The harmony, reminiscent of an old LP record, is expressed through IU’s voice. This song reflects on precious memories with fans, much like the lilac that marks the end of her twenties and the beginning of her thirties, and signifies a new beginning.

You and me both. I think IU's voice has a pitch just right to connect to your deep consciousness, like the singing of mermaids or when babies here the heartbeat of their mom. So when she puts emotion in a song you just echoed it.

Celebrity is my favourite from this album. I love the lyrics because you can interpret it as an uplifting message towards yourself, or a message directed towards a person you care about (telling them to appreciate and embrace their unique identity) I was able to see her concert and the whole audience shouts the "Youre my celebrity" part, letting her know that she is Uaena's "celebrity". Its an unforgetable feeling that solidified it as my favourite song. My top 3: Celebrity Ah Puh My Sea

I really liked your reaction as always. Lilac is my favorite album too, and second is Palette. What makes me sad is that you watched The Golden Hour in pieces; it’s magical, I went to see it in the cinema twice. Ah Puh. Written by Lee Chan-hyuk of the duo AKMU, known for his clever wordplay. Chan-hyuk is influenced by his stint in the Marines and has a list of sea-related songs as a result. IU famously is scared of the water. During the encore performance the dancers were recreating comic moves made up on the spot by Chan-hyuk on a Palette episode.

Hi and thank you, IU won five awards for Lilac, including Artist of the Year (Daesang), Album of the Year (Daesang), Top 10 Artists (Bonsang), Best Female Solo, and Best Songwriter Award (again 2017 too). I'm fine with IU not winning also song of the year, but She would have won everything. Similar situation happened in 2017 IU won album of the year best songwriter but Artist of the year went to EXO, so BTS got song of the year. Most army I know would have been fine with IU winning everything, but they gave artist of the year to EXO, and army would not have it, so MMA politics. IU has now win all the Daesangs, but not in the same year. I think the long belt at the end of My Sea aims to last 8 seconds, IU's favorite number, nothing is confirmed but IU is full of clever ideas. PS the song itself lasts 5 minutes and 16 seconds II's birthday.

My Sea is up there tied with Love Poem as my top tier songs. Although My Sea is a narrative about IU herself, I feel like you can apply these lyrics to maybe your own personal story as well.

I have theory abt that horror connection. Its connected to The Abandoned (lost puppy). So epilogue is positive answer to lost puppy (lost puppy is abt a celeb who lost all her/his fame, abandoned by people 😢) You can hear horror element as well in lost puppy

Am I the only one who didn't find strawberry moon here? Was it on part 1 Btw mine top 3 are 1. My sea (one of all time favorites) 2. Troll (going well with today's mood) 3. Epilogue (fan songs hit hards when you are a fan)
