Tang Wei is a chinese actress. Her acting skills are phenomenal. She married a korean film director so she is quite active in the korean industry. She recently was in "decision to leave" which won a bunch of awards in many festivals and ceremonies around the world including in Cannes (best director). She got 3 "best actress" awards for it.

IU shared a letter that Tang Wei wrote to her after filming talking about her experience, and everything mentioned in the letter makes it very blatant that the relationship in the MV is about a mother and daughter (Tang Wei mentions key memories of her childhood and her relationship with her own mother, for instance). But I will say that the story in the MV is more than just mother-daughter, since there are two sides to the story and that part is only from Tang Wei's POV. IU's POV in the second verse is about a 'friendship'. And in that case, a GL angle is very plausible. Theory: In the PAST, She placed those she loved in there (so they can be with her forever) - her mother and her friend. In the PRESENT, she spots IU, who looks very much like her mother, when she was younger. Before seeing IU, she had early spotted someone who looked like her friend, whom she (assumed that she knocked out) placed in the boot. She would have place IU in the boot too except IU boldly approached her first. It can be assumed the woman in the boot will be placed down there too. But IU will be her mother figure in the present and most probably live together, with IU keeping her secret...Shh A dark theme indeed. Love the story line. Want a darker theme: Consider she has been driving around looking out for people that resembles her mother and her friend. If this isn't her first drive, then how many people has she "collected" in there? IU delivers another MV movie!❤ IU has really gone all out for her fans: 4 MVs from 5 songs - 1 Fantasy, 1 Fun, 1 Dark and 1 Apocalyptic. Uniquely IU indeed. Respect much! .👍🏻❤👏👏

Interesting. Tony Leung was recently in NewJeans 'Cool With You', Tang Wei is in this mv. The two actors are linked via the notorious erotic thriller 'Lust, Caution' from 2007. IU's lyrics are also about forbidden passion. There are layers-within-layers.
