So, like excise taxes on alcohol and tobacco, there should be an excise tax on the latest addiction, activities in the Metaverse. Such activities could be taxed through the communications services over which they are conducted and the electric power services that make that communications possible. For example, an internet switching/storage center can have a unique tax collected through its very large electrical service. As for communications services, they already can meter a customer's level of internet activity, whatever it is composed of, on their modem or cell phone, and an excise tax can be placed on that traffic. This may be a blunt method, but it already works when it comes to raising tax revenue. I am also sure that musicians would appreciate a better return on their posted productions. I would think this would be something the US FCC would be working rather diligently on.
