All of the singers did a great job but IU's voice is just too comparatively distinct. She's got a bit of an air to the vocals and sustains notes with her notable style, plus her voice just sounds more matured than the rest. Especially during that second song, it was extremely clear which one was her.

Shannon Williams hitting the triple note was my first introduction to her. By the time I saw the clip she'd already released Why Why so I was looking forward to seeing her career develop. She's one of the most gifted vocalists I've heard, she was competent at executing choreography, she was a radiant beauty, and her English was excellent. She's basically Somi if you swapped dancing for vocals. Unfortunately, her career was horribly mismanaged and she never got the stardom she was entitled to based on merits. I'm happy she's found success as a twitch streamer but losing her as a musical artist is a loss for the world.

A no brainer task, IU's voice (sustain, lows, highs), pronunciation and techniques are so articulated. I love she singing some of her earlier songs with her current style, for example. There are so many nuances now that make her sound more pleasing.

This happens if you are not a fully Korean and they are somewhat bias to it. After listening to this several times, the thing is that what's funny is that none of the singers have adapted to IU's more natural range. Before Modern Times era, she sang in the cutesy voice for her concept, and the rest of the contestants did that but IU started singing in her regular voice, and nobody else caught that. So barely anyone had recognized that fact unless you saw IU came out the door. She sang in a much "lower" tone that matches her speaking voice too. I find it funny how her lower voice managed to fly under the radar when she was the "deeper" one of them all. This clip is what got me into IU :3 On You and I, IU is #1, the back vocal singer is 2, the 3rd is short haired girl, then 4th is Shannon. #2's voice is slightly more mature than IU, since IU's voice is relatively youthful in this song, she almost has it but it has very strong undertones of maturity. #3 when I first started watching it years ago I thought her voice was super close, but her voice has a huge element of cutesy in every part she sings, and it renders the entire thing way too high pitched. And Shannon, her voice fits in some parts but the part that sounds more youthful, like #2 has a different type of teenage maturity in her voice IU simply does not have because her voice is a little bit deeper. If I had to describe their voices as instruments, IU would be viola or oboe, 2 would be like a flute, 3 would be a xylophone, and Shannon would be a violin.

@@ERhymesD Yes but they didn't realize as she matured her concept her voice changed concepts too. She also did it because of her vocal technique and it's infinitely better than how she sang before. They referenced old songs while she sang in her new technique which is why it's so easy to pick her out here compared to the others.
