IV Calculations and Drip Factor

In this video you will learn how to calculate IV dosages including the drip factor. Keep in mind that the drip factor is the number of drops that equals 1 mL. If the test question uses a macrodrop, 60gtt/mL will be your drip factor and if it uses a macrodrop then 15gtt/mL will be your drip factor. I just took my placement exam and I know I failed it. But I know I did excellent on the dosage calculation portion 😊and it was all because of your methods. There were some helpful things that you went over that were on the exam but I paid way too much attention to dosage calculations. Hey Professor D, thanks for this. Quick question... regarding #1, you mention that the 1,000 mL is not the volume we're paying attention to when solving and we're instead to focus on 40mL/ 1hr. for the volume we're plugging into our formula. However, what I don't understand is how is it appropriate to use the 1 L (of course just converting to 1,000mL) in question 2 considering it's worded similarily in this problem. It makes senses in problem 2 since it's the only volume that was given to us, so again, my question is why is it wrong to consider the 1000mL in question 1 instead of the 40 mL? What makes the 40mL the correct volume to use?
