I know I am gonna get my butt jumped, but we are supposed to love, so doesn't that mean that we aren't supposed to try to 'one up' other people...by using 'trump style' you are saying you are better than someone else. And Christ never once said he was better than anyone, though of all of us He could have claimed it. We may set the standard, but its not by our works, nor by our name. Its by His, so why don't we do it His way.

That's a great question Amanda. It's not wrong to say that you are better than someone else, if that statement is true. If I am looking for a great doctor to perform a life threatening surgery, I want the doctor that is Confident in the gifts God has given them and can point to his accomplishments, awards, achievements, etc as proof. If I am up for a promotion against another Christian brother, I am going to try and do better work than him to make sure I don't get overlooked. That's not sinful. The sin comes when I take the credit for my gifts, and talents and boast in myself, not Christ who has given me talent. If God has given you talent, and you lie about not having any under a false mask of humility, than you are lying about what God has done for you.
