Thanks for the vid. I'm a new Paramedic. I encountered a situation the other day where I had to push mag for a ped. Initially I elected to go with mag IVP mixed with 20mL NS per my protocol, but encountered an issue. I wasn't sure how to "mix" the small ped dose (375mg) with 20mL. Instead, I elected to go with mag IVPB, as all I needed to do was mix the mag into 50mL NS and run over 10min. If attempting to do mag SIVP, how exactly do you mix mag into 20mL NS when 20mL NS is only issued in a prefilled syringe? Is my protocols wrong or am I thinking incorrectly? Shouldn't it be push the mag then, follow with a 20cc flush? Or would this cause burns? Thanks for the response in advance...

How do give a dosage to a pediatric that weighs 30kg. My protocol calls for 50mg/kg over 30mins with a max of 2 grams?. Keep in mind we have iv pumps . Also does the grams converter to mg once diluted. 100cc bag?

You just added 4ml Mag to the 100ml bag of NS (total of 104ml) so shouldn’t that be included in your drip rate equation?

negligible. Similar amounts are probably lost in spiking in the first place.
