Ivan , although this image recording is clear ( Great song BTW, I love it) it doesn't show actual clear fingering of the notes, although I can pick up much by ear it's a bit of trial and error, I'd love to see a slow break down of the main parts in small chunks or a tab sheet . I'd love to put this tune into my " most enjoyable surf guitar tunes bag " along with the Shads, Atlantics and surfcoasters . - Thanks Ivan, for this all time Madeira/Ivan tune, it's got a really flowing , relaxed vibe to it.

Well, I don't do tab or sheet music, so the only thing I can do that would be better than this is play the lead guitar part more slowly and make sure the camera captures every part completely. I'll try to do that. And thank you once again for such nice words! BTW, you should be aware that this track was actually composed by the Madeira's rhythm guitarist Patrick O'Connor! He's absolutely fantastic, and wrote nearly half of all Madeira tracks!

Ah I see. Big thanks to Patrick great songs . Rhythm strumming on the albums = amazing and live, sounds great . I seriously don't know how he copes with the flurry of chord changes on the fast live songs with the heat- must be the adrenaline @@ipongrac 😄

@@brucewayan3472Patrick truly is a REMARKABLE surf rhythm guitarist, I would say one of the very best in the world today - or maybe even ever! He's got not only speed but accuracy AND subtlety and feeling when necessary. I've been very fortunate to be able to play with him, for sure. I just shot and posted a new video with a much more detailed breakdown of how to play Undercurrents. Hope that helps! kzbin.info/www/bejne/npDCaKdooruXr80si=msC82k_t-3ARCp3d

Cowabunga @@ipongrac 👍. Appreciate this so much Ivan, love the moods in this tune. You have the classic Surf trem picking down really well, aka Dick Dale the king . I've been working on this many months and I gotta say that it's one of the most difficult single techniques to get right especially if you have to use the tremolo arm. Just wondering If you found this when you were starting out with surf tunes ?

@@brucewayan3472Thank you once again, Bruce! I think that tremolo picking came fairly easily and naturally, I have memory of first trying it way back when and feeling like I could pull it off fairly well right away. At least until I tried to replicate Dick Dale's style as closely as possible, at which point I quickly realized that, um, maybe I don't have it quite as together as I thought! 😀 To get to that point did require quite a bit of practice, and still to this day to be able to do that powerful and VERY fast double-picking I need to: 1) practice for *at least* a week or two beforehand; 2) fully warm up right before playing it live (or recording); and 3) stand up - it's a very physical thing and requires that I put my entire body into it. Even after 30 years of playing surf music almost exclusively, I still have to do those three things to be able to really deliver. So, there you go. No substitute for practice, practice, practice! Good luck!

how would you suggest setting up the el capistan for this great of a sound?
