What rules are you specifically talking about? There is good reason why footballers are banned from betting, its a massive risk to competitive integrity. There is a difference between a fan betting on the games vs a player who could have information not available to the public, not to mention the ability to potentially fix bets which has recently been exposed in the Brazilian league.

@@Mark-zg1gz the rule that prohibits footballers from betting on any Football matches or activities. its understandable if its just prohibited for the league and comps the players are involved in but it should be allowed for them to bet on other matches in other leagues and comps

I think its just far easier to simply ban betting on football for active players, they can still bet on literally any other sport, it really is not that much of an ask to tell players earning millions not to bet on their own sport.

@@Mark-zg1gz well it is a bit of an ask considering said sport heavily promotes and endorses betting on football, using footballers as poster boys for the advertisements and that you need to actually know the sport to place a half decent bet. And the odds of them having "information not publicly available" that would alter the score line, even in their own league is not very high (unless related to their own squad) never mind other leagues ffs. I don't believe they should be allowed to bet on games in their own league obviously (as I've said) or maybe even the country of the league they play in. fuck even to go as extreme as not allowing them to bet on football matches from their native country and all of them cover conflict of interest. But there's zero problem with a prem player betting on something such as the Belarusian premier league ffs.
