Thanks for the idea about planting earlies in containers for a Christmas harvest. Our daughter is using a corner of my plot to grow some second earlies which are nearly ready for lifting, so I'll beg a few from her. I'll look forward to seeing your results. :) Those cobwebs on your melon plant look exactly the same as a red spider mite infestation I had on a melon plant many years ago, so I would check it out. I remember that one treatment was regular sprays with water. I can't remember the details now.

They take 12-17 weeks if 1st or second earlies or wait until the plant tops start to die back Thank you

@ivans-gardening-allotment-uk we've just emptied one pot. I think it's roughly a 10l pot. All the foliage had died. It was shop bought potatoes that chitted. We got 1.5lb of potatoes 🥔 😋 😍
