I've seen this many times over the years in Kpop. Yoona, Suzy, IU, Jennie, and many others even though they did nothing to deserve the hate got hated on. I think a lot of it comes down to envy from people how have really rotten lives and can't find a better outlet for their negative emotions. There are many people who live under great pressure that makes them miserable and to cope they try to pull others down. It is a bit like most bullies at school are found to be bullied or abused at home. A person always critiqued by their parents, classmates, co-workers, a partner, or a boss, who doesn't know how to shed that, likely really resents someone who is always praised and seems to have the perfect life and be the perfect person. Also, I do think there are some people who regardless of their upbringing are simply born mean and have some crossed wires in the womb and just take every opportunity to hate on others. It's really sad. Fortunately this is not the majority, but man is it a vocal minority sometimes. Happier people often aren't as loud as they actually have lives to enjoy and don't want to get down in the gutter with such folks in shouting matches. Sadly, it is why if you are going to be a public figure, you have to have thick skin and some mature perspective to understand that those haters are a minority and that you need to focus on being yourself and the people that love you as you can't control the people that hate you for irrational reasons.

I think someone commented saying this song is a comforting song for the members and a message for the haters. 'LOVE ME, HATE ME, YOU WILL NEVER BE ME' Also, someone highlighted that in the mv, leeseo seems different from others in school, liz is a homebody, rei has unique fashion style and yujin being a racer girl and gaeul a boxer girl then there's wonyoung in a wedding dress. Each member highlights that we are all different. We dont need to be someone else or conform to what someone wants us to be. WE ARE REBELS IN OUR HEARTS 💕

I'm a huge IVE fan so I'm not going to be objective. However I think this song will be a hit. Because if the primary message concerns the members of IVE. I think this message will speak to all the people who are against the current, the people who are ostracized or put aside, and there are a lot of Koreans who feel like that. Obviously as I've said very often the message of being yourself and not paying attention to the standard is a message that we see with many groups but each of them delivers this message in their own way. And I love the way IVE does it. Their songs are always anthems and there is indeed a "great" side.
