the amount of rust on the front axle of these vehicles is quite impressive, given the condition of the rest of the vehicle.

To be fair, I've done the rest of the vehicle, I couldn't do much to the subframe in situ, so this gave an opportunity to give it a good overall. 👌👍.

Hey up Thomas 😊👍, ahhh this is a few weeks old now mate (when the weather was almost tropical for February) I've been workshop bound for the past couple of weeks doing other stuff. Not to bad of a job to do to be fair but wasn't expecting to see those cracks, which have now set their course and wouldn't of developed any further I don't think due to the old corrosion build up within them (they could of been there when I bought the van just not noticed them) , they've been sorted now and the heads fine thank you bud 😊👌👍👍👍.

In general, dear viewer, on Your Daily, you will need explosives to shift most of the nuts & bolts as they will be seized solid. :-) Did one today & not even my rorty air-gun would touch most of them. On the lower shock absorber mount - as an example - 1 of the 4 the big dewalt impact eventually broke the bolt.. 1 opened after being heated to the point of melting, 1 I cut with the grinder as nothing would open it & it ignored the heat... the fourth opened like a good little boy... EFFORT!! I also trust those jacking points about as far as I can chuck 'em.

@@Iveavan I won the "fastest rear-wheel-well rust repairs" Medal today on this one with the broken front leaf spring - both sides done in a day & most of the front suspension dropped as well - Outside - as the bugger has a big foldy-awning-thingy fitted to the roof that makes it 1" too high to fit through the bloomin workshop door. Went to back it in - no go... ah ffs... :-) I do so love working outdoors instead of in the nice comfy workshop. :-)

Straight back into it, no messing around, what a legend!!!!! Where do you usually buy your parts? Did you do a video on removing the fender that you could share? Call me dumb but what was the reason to replace it all. I see that Hd transverse replacements are available, just wondering the benefits you gained through the process which looks a lot work
@Iveavan
@Iveavan 8 ай бұрын
It was worn. With the van being over 18 years old and with 320k on the clock, it was noticeable that the front suspension was tired even on smoth roads, (this can be seen due to the cracks in the subframe) so it needed an overall ( along with a new HD spring that I fitted). It's definitely a job that needed to be done as it's definitely improved the handling, ride hight and less harsh on the road where it's absorbing the impacts much better 👌👍.
