Hi Pete Great job on tank. I bought a LS400 Entech a couple of weeks ago for basecoat. Not used it yet. Just put thinners thru it, to check the spray pattern. Got it to spray candy on my best mate’s Kawasaki. Yes, it uses a hell of alot of air. I have a screw compressor with a receiver which puts out 16cfm & it uses it all. Won’t be getting the WS as I like to use an air fed mask for clear & there would be no air left for mask. Would need a 400v supply to house to get more air. Will check out your settings. Good idea to mention how much material you are getting through as it gives people a rough idea of how much they need. Usually use an rp for clear at 9 cfm so there is plenty of air left for me.
@peteshobbies53833 жыл бұрын
I must admit, i don't use an air fed as much as i should, i have the Devilbiss ProV650 and use a separate compressor outside for it but i only do that if i have a lot to do, I actually link two compressors together and can have both on if needed but it can get a bit noisy, it's a good way of getting lot's of air off a 240v supply, that Kawasaki Candy Green is a lovely colour, hope it goes ok 👍

@@peteshobbies5383 Hi Pete I’m not using the Kawasaki green kandy. Im replicating an old original design but with bling. I use a Sata Airstar half mask,air fed respirator with a non airfed one to switch when I leave the booth. Thanks Steve, Hope you have great Christmas as well mate, yes, the paint quantity is something I've been meaning to say for a while because with the various tanks i do it varies a lot, some are as little as 110mls of clear for two passes and some are 250mls and if your doing the underside you can add between 40 and 60% more on top so hopefully it gives people a better idea, thanks as always buddy, take care 👍

@@peteshobbies5383 your welcome Pete love your videos and watch them till he end 😊 I bet the tip size makes a difference to the quantity of paint.
@peteshobbies53833 жыл бұрын
Yes it does but it's a combination, for example the Gti Pro Lite with a 1.3 tip and the TE10 cap uses less material than the same setup but with the TE20 cap, it's because the TE20 flows more air so draws more fluid through the same tip, the tip size is i find more relevant to the thickness of materials and the flow rather than just the flow if that makes sense, then there's HVLP which uses loads of air but doesn't necessarily pull more material through but normally transfers more material to the work 👍

Great video, I’m a bit confused with how to determine the appropriate size air cap to the tip size. I’m having a difficult time finding information online showing a size chart and the compatibility of the air caps, tips and guns with their various recommended psi and cfm ratings. I’ve been looking at the 93506930 WS400 1.5HD Nozzle/Needle Assembly and wondering if it will work with the 93512320 LS-400-02 Air Cap Assembly that has a recommended gun inlet of 19psi and if that air cap and tip will fit in the Wider2 gun. If Iwata had a Wider4 gun in a pressure fed configuration it would make it a great deal simpler since I use a 3M pressure H/O cup and a pressure pot with all my other guns. I’m not particularly fond of gravity fed with the types of coatings I use.
@peteshobbies5383 Жыл бұрын
Hi Mate, The WS400 tips have different size air holes to the LS400 tips, if you mix the two the material may over atomise as too much air goes through the tip, it may be ok on HS clear coats but not base coats, the LS and WS400 caps have a different diameter thread so won't fit on a wider2 unfortunately
@bingobunga8995 Жыл бұрын
@@peteshobbies5383 thanks Pete, so if I understand this correctly the ws400 and ls400 tips will fit but the air caps will not so I would need to use a Wider4 air cap with the Wider2 gun to use the cut tips. The reason I’m asking is because I need a dedicated clear coat gun for high solid finishes and I just ordered a pressure fed Wider2 gun for that sole purpose. I would’ve bought the wider4 if it had a pressure fed version of the gun but sadly it doesn’t. I can only hope Iwata in the future will create it.

@bingobunga8995 The best thing to do would be a Wider4L as the tip and cap would fit the wider2 and is 4 split, if you want to use a LS or WS with a Wider4 cap, it must be a Wider4L cap not Wider4

The cap, the OBS has the same cap as the WS400 clear, the LS is completely different. The original WS400 base guns were exactly the same as the WS400 clear guns apart from their markings, just so the painter could tell them apart, they quickly realised that for base it was over atomiseing the basecoat so they changed the tip to one with smaller exit holes, this cured the problem

The OBS puts out a little more material than the LS, the LS is true HVLP so tends to have less overspray as your normally using it a bit closer and at a lower pressure, the OBS is better if you dont have lots of air as the LS uses loads, only the X5500 HVLP and Devilbiss HV30 cap uses as much as the LS

Hi Stephen, that's a good question, the LS & WS are a very good combination, neither is my favourite gun but there's no denying they are good, the Kiwami4 is more middle of the road, it's a very good do it all spraygun which can achieve excellent finishes, it's not as specialist as the WS/LS but it is easier to use, much cheaper and uses less air, ultimately the WS/LS will give you a better finish once you get used to using them but as with most of these guns there not much in it. 👍
