I always find it so weird that the meta will be one way leading up to worlds, in summer split and before, then right before worlds it changes, like the teams who were the best at AD Mid are not the same teams who are the best at AP styles and when you swap it with all these teams locked in from a completely different meta it just feels so off. I think they should have finished out the season as it was and made changes in the off season as they always do

If worlds is about celebrating the best teams that had qualified for it, well then you probably shouldn’t rug pull the meta on the teams that qualified. If on the other hand worlds is primarily an entertainment product targeted towards a wide audience, then yeah absolutely you should change what the previous meta was. I can’t imagine your typical league of legends normie viewer would’ve preferred to watch that patch. At the end of the day as you said though, riot really could’ve just changed the meta a month or two before regional playoffs if they thought it was going to be a viewership problem.

Literally 3 of the top 4 teams at worlds were LPL teams… LCK outside of T1 lost like 80% of the games they played vs LPL. How was it unreasonable to say they were better? Even after they still dominated the tournament - All of their Seeds got out of Swiss. They were 3/4 and their only team that didn’t make it lost to the eventual world champions in T1.
