IWK Emergency Department triage explained

The Emergency Department at IWK Health can be extremely busy and we know waiting is difficult, especially at such a stressful time. We are fully staffed at all times which means we have doctors, nurses and support staff working 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, caring for patients as they arrive.
Each patient that arrives through our doors is important. but everyone is not seen in the order they arrive.
The word "emergency” can mean different things to different people.
