💯!!!! Well said!!! I am overjoyed at the decades of “fake it till you make it”, are coming to a close and people are being more honest, truthful and authentic! I myself am a very bubbly and happy person, but I do deal with anxiety, some depression and quite a bit of PTSD. I’m glad that I know who I am, how to express it, how to ask for help and how to share when I see others feeling the same. I also have the most epic support system, and those people know how to reach me when I’ve lost perspective, and how to set me back on track.

It was very courageous of Sara to publicly submit to this excavation of her childhood feelings. Iyanla gives sacred space for people to be "safe". I'm glad you were able to trust in the process. This touched me because when I was about 5 years old at school, for doing your school work right they were giving us these big red lollipops in the shape of stars. You can imagine for a little African child how exciting this might be. I worked so hard one week to get it. And I did! When i got back home after school that day my baby brother cried for my lollipop, and I think it was my aunt who took it away from me and gave it to him. Something that I had worked so hard for. I think little Helena never for over that. Even now when I work hard for something and get it, i always feel like it might get taken away from me as quickly as I got it.🙁😓 I cry a lot too

omg Sara your transparency, vulbetability, and courage is so inspiring and affirming!!! I was literally JUST NOW fighting back tears in the kitchen at work because a higher up attempted to reach near me and didn't, and I apologized and he said "you did nothing wrong" and this triggered the urge to cry. So I can so relate!!! This literally just happened before I sat down and clicked on the video. thank you so much for your bravery and vulnerability. I'm going to find a therapist myself and get to the root of this!

@orisatalabi 6 жыл бұрын
@@LoverLand1003 Thank you for providing context. *There's a time and place for everything.* Crying at inopportune times (crying fits) is an indicator of one's mental health status. It shouldn't be a stand-alone marker, but it's a telling non-verbal cue for one's stress level/threshold. So it can, in fact, be detrimental if a crying fit happens around people who are professionally distant...No telling what type of evaluation they would assess. Even worse, a toxic/hostile environment (personal or professional) is no place for such a vulnerable display. I wish it were not so, but you are right...Crying fits/crying around people who aren't emotionally invested in one's tears can be detrimental. Sara's fortunate to be in a work environment that seems genuinely supportive of her. And she's wisely chosen to learn how to handle her emotions appropriately.
