IZMIR Turkey Walking Tour In The Old Bazaar (Kemeraltı Çarşısı) September 2022 | 4k UHD 60 FPS

It is a historical bazaar that covers the area extending from the cemetery head district to Konak Square. The main street of the bazaar is Anafartalar Street. And it draws a great arc. This curve; This is due to the fact that the street surrounded the inner harbor that existed in the past centuries. As the port started to fill towards its mouth in time, new residential and commercial areas were opened and these areas were utilized with new buildings. In the first years of its construction, the bazaar looked like a covered bazaar with its side streets and arastas, partially vaulted, covered with tiles.

Until recently, the streets from Şadırvanaltı Mosque to Havra Street were covered. Bazaar; Kemeraltı got its name from the fact that this part is covered. Some of today's small streets that opened perpendicular to the bazaar were also covered with barrel vaults. Arastas were forming together with other side streets leading to them. There are many inns in the bazaar.
Today, as in the past, Kemeraltı Bazaar is the most important shopping center of İzmir. Even though the number of the mysterious vaulted and domed shops of the past has decreased considerably, its modern business centers, shops, cinemas and cafeterias and streets are lively at all hours of the day and look like a site where all kinds of shopping can be done. It is possible to find all kinds of traditional Turkish handicrafts such as ceramics, tile panels, wooden products, tombaks, carpets and rugs, and leather products in this bazaar, which consists of indoor and outdoor spaces
