as someone who learned pretty much everything stock for Logic prior to buying plugins and going a step further, I can now see the true power of using something like Izotope across tracks. AI is the future and Izo seems to embrace this. The day I used Ozone 11 on my master bus (which I know that its not recommended technically lol) truthfully the sound of my tracks completely changed. Like everything just glued together at the end and made the track whole. Really some groundbreaking stuff.

Being able to engage the "Neutron Assistant" for every track at once (after setting up any necessary sidechains) would be amazing. Also, having the "mix assistant" (in the visual mixer) set a basic hp/lp filter on each track would be super useful for getting a quick starting point.

Neutron 4 is amazing and so easy to handle like I known before. Especially the Gate is for Dummies. ;D All works well and it´s easy to see what´s happening. But that´s also a problem in my opinion. I´m tempted to "looking to" what I´m doing. I think some kind of "Blind Test" could be a great feature to better "hear" what´s happening and how the sounds changing and not to much "mix with my eyes". Please don´t get me wrong, I love the visualization, but sometimes it leads me wrong. Nevertheless, great video again. Thank you. =)

Jeff, I was a little confused by one thing in your discussion of the Assistant View. Namely, it's relationship to the initial module chain. When you gave your warning about not rearranging the chain after the initial run through the Assistant, it made me wonder whether the Assistant View actually will place and place in preferred order, for an example, Sculptor when it was not in your beginning module chain. While I would think that the Assistant View listens at input prior to any processing, but it's not clear to me how it interacts with different orders of module chains to begin with. Hope you see this and thanks for your response.

The izotope tech support says, that must be a problem in logic- which apple support on the other hand denied 🤷♂️

Around the 19min mark when you talk about resetting with the blue icon. Does it reset it back to the learned values? You followed up by saying you can reset globally by pressing relearn. Does that only relearn this instance of neutron or all instances you may have on your project's.
@kadiummusic26 күн бұрын
Would love an update on this video for Neutron 5! 😎
@982andymccoy Жыл бұрын
What is the goal of Neutron 4 and its learning mode when used on a track? a) identify the instrument and match it to a benchmark? or b) identify the instrument and ideally place it in the existing mix? For me, b) is actually relevant because many of my sounds already come from very good plugins. But that also means that you should only use the learning mode when there are already many tracks available so that you can analyze the instrument in comparison to the other tracks, right? Somehow I haven't yet understood the specific application of the learning mode.
@Phadddy2 жыл бұрын
I would love to have a Neutron instance on each track in zero latency mode and then starting the mix phase with pressing Mix Assistant on the Master track that then starts ALL Mix Assistants on each Neutron instance on each track and then does the levels. So a ONE Click ALL tracks assistant. I also want to correct the instrument it guessed on that Master track plugin and then I can go through each track for fine tuning. All parameters in assistant view should be NKS mapped. That would be a killer quick workflow, especially with Maschine/Komplete Kontrol!
@krispybowgod96562 жыл бұрын
I swear neutron 3 could basically do that. It would gainstage the mix for you. I feel like they removed it in this version for some reason

Geoff, from someone who is very much starting from scratch with mixing, thanks very much for this really helpful video. One question; is there a particular order that you would normally position the various modules in the signal path? I assume that Assistant View will do this for you to some extent, but if you wanted to apply an additional module, where would you usually put them in the chain? Thanks.
@xyzyzx1253 Жыл бұрын
Just keep following your ears! You learn as you go! :) try to analyse what the tool is doing and what each module contributes to the sound, and how it works in different sequences. Different sequences will produce different effects, it’s a very dense tool, but if you fully understand it, you’ll learn a great deal about mixing, just really analyse and listen to the chains the assistant spits out and try and understand what you’re hearing and why it is done in that order :)

Sculptor in both Neutron 3 and Neutron 4 will introduce some latency since the spectral shaping it is doing can not happen in low latency mode. As long as you're using it when mixing or mastering and not while recording, you shouldn't hear the latency.
