I feel this deserves an English translation so here goes: Štefana and Bertolin Bertolin was a temperamental man, for him, women would fall into despair, but he didn't care for any girl or lady, only the beautiful Štefana was dear to his heart. That year in the autumn, just as he was going to propose, war came and Bertolin, there was no way around it, had to go. Štefana swore to remain faithful, and when he would return be his bride. But Bertolin took out his accordion, wiped a tear away and sang: ''My dearest Štefana, life or death, you are meant for me like the gardens of heaven, but God would not have me as your husband, you were mine once upon a time, you will be mine no longer!'' Bertolin wrote to Štefana every day, but her replies grew fewer and fewer, she stopped waiting for him, and another man took her, when Bertolin returned, he returned just in time for the wedding, he sat at a table and looked at Štefana, another man might have beaten her and called her a whore, another man might have crashed the wedding, another man might have indeed, but not Bertolin. Bertolin took out his accordion, wiped a tear away and sang: ''My dearest Štefana, life or death, you are meant for me like the gardens of heaven, but God would not have me as your husband, you were mine once upon a time, you will be mine no longer!'' Many years have passed since then, since then the world has turned a hundred times, two or three countries went to hell during that time, but true love's flame did not go out. And so Štefana died, and Bertolin died, but a beautiful, noble memory remained. People in the past loved eachother aswell, and loves like those can't be found anymore. Bertolin took out his accordion, wiped a tear away and sang: ''My dearest Štefana, life or death, you are meant for me like the gardens of heaven, but God would not have me as your husband, you were mine once upon a time, you will be mine no longer!'' Mlakar deserves international recognition in my humble opinion :D
