Con kept insisting that this had to look beautiful, it was very important to him. And the eyebrows are very obvious, so they couldn't be evil eyebrows, or funny eyebrows. We settled on something quite soft, in the end, that he suggested, and he really liked them like this". I haven't seen anyone else who noticed it was an homage to Piaf and I'm so happy you caught it!

​@@_PetrichorSPOILERS LIKE HUGE SPOILERS Because they decided that Izzy's redemption arc and healing should end by him dying apologizing to his abuser and saying that with him dead, Ed is free to be happy. And that the crew (whom he tormented and didn't even make amends with) loved Ed, instead of acknowledging they love Izzy because Izzy was the one who put in the effort to build a relationship with them. They brought back all of his self hatred and suicidal tendencies too. There's no funeral and they not only bury him on land but in Ed and Stede's front yard after ripping off his prosthetic to mark the grave. Somehow Jenkins maintains this was a "kind" ending.

And maybe pay a visit back to the inn to visit, he brings the crew to help them rebuild the inn, something like that. Ugh.

Love how a show took a whole season to explain to us that this is a man to be hated and want dead- to then in the next season, in the /first/ episode, make us love him and see the parts of him worth loving. Trauma sucks, but there's a bond to be had in sharing it. Growth is possible if you actually seek to heal and mend. And getting the chance to embrace your best self to create something beautiful... he was such an asshole in season 1, and his development in season 2 was such a welcome surprise. I love a lot about this episode-- the look on Izzy's face in the mirror with Wee John, going shopping for party stuff, everyone's fancy party threads, THIS SONG, ugh it's all so good. I love that Izzy got to have this moment, like it wasn't just a one-off when the crew protected him from Ed, they really do love him. I'm sure it wasn't just Ed who thought he was unlovable, and look, they were both wrong :)
