The slow tempo helped me a lot to get a good grade in my cello class.

Someone said this in another video of yours...you are amazing. But in particular, you can do these pieces in slow tempo controlling everything not only in machanics and elegance, but keeping it so beautiful. It helps us and amazes us students and all music lovers. Thanks! Love from Brazil!

Thank you, Cecilia. Your words are great encouragement to me. I love Brazil (it has been almost 15 years since I performed in your beautiful country).

Dear mr.kozlov. I'm 47 yrs old and started to learn playing cello from last year. Though my teacher is so nice but whenever I practice alone, it was so hard to remember what I learned. But after I watched your playing I could unserstand not only what I learned but also the playing and understanding of song. Thanks alot for everything and if I get a chance I would like to watch your concert later. Thanks again and see you later~

Hello, I'm a sixth grade cellist and I really want to improve on two sections of the piece. I don't know if there are any tips or anything to help me improve besides practice. It is (measure 26-29) where the tempo speeds up (1:42 - 1:53) and it always gets a bit messy at the end of it. The biggest problem so far is (measure 29-30) (1:53 - 2:03) I have trouble with trying to keep my arm and shoulder down. I'm trying to keep it in just my fingers and all the jumping of the notes can get real messy. If there is anything you might suggest I would love to know because your an amazing cellist. Thanks!
@Cellopedia6 жыл бұрын
Hi, it is always very difficult to give any suggestions without working one on one. However here are few thoughts. Try to stay in lower part of the bow, especially when you have to from G to A string back and forth. Try to use your wrist as much as possible. It the triplet notes passage it is helpful to accentuate every group of 3. It helps to play it with extra clarity - later on you can play without accents. It is also useful to keep the bow on the string and play detache rather than spiccato as long as you need to master this passage. Once you are able to play it without tension, you can increase the tempo and start playing spiccato. I hope it helps...

i took cello lessons from the age 7 to 12, i'm 17 now and i started to play again like three days ago (only at home) and i still have the issue that my hands are always cramped when i play and i don't know how to get rid of that. I also can't hold a pencil for longer than 5 minutes because my hand always cramps. how do i hold the bow (?) and the strings without my hands being cramped? I'm also not a native speaker so i don't really know how describe my problem
@Cellopedia3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, it is very hard to help to solve problems like this without working with a student one on one. Few general suggestions - try playing everything in a very slow tempo, pay attention to breathing, work on relaxation in your upper body. No particular bow hold will help without working on relaxation in general. It would be helpful to get a few private lessons from an experienced cello teacher. Best of luck to you.
