Here is some further information I copied from Wikipedia, after hearing this lovely concerto on our local public radio station played on horn, not trumpet (by Swedish Chamber Orchestra, with horn soloist and label not specified on the Classical24 playlist): "According to Nimbus Records Ltd. (1994), one of the composer's more significant works is the Concerto in E-flat for Trumpet and Strings. Originally written for the "corno da caccia" or "natural horn" using only the high register, it is now rarely performed on anything other than an E-flat or B-flat trumpet. Incidentally, the Corno da Caccia for which Neruda wrote is not to be confused with the 4-valved hunting horn which has recently been given the same name. The manuscript for this piece is in the National Library in Prague, along with several other unusual works for brass instruments."

Der Wahnsinn. Spiele selber, bei weitem nicht so gut, aber was der da ablässt ist nicht normal. Maurice ist nicht zu ersetzen aber hier führt jemand was großes fort!

Sounds like a cross between a piccolo trumpet and a flugelhorn. A piccolo flugelhorn. I guess maybe a piccolo French horn...? Nah.

While Pacho Flores is certainly a terrific trumpet player, to designate him as the best in the world goes a bit too far. Have you forgotten Sergei Nakarykov as well as many others in his caliber.

Ciertamente se parece mas auna trompeta que a un corno, tiene boquilla de trompeta, llaves a la derecha como la trompeta y el pabellón es pequeño como el de la trompeta. Un corno francés piccolo tiene las llaves a la izquierda, boquilla de corno y el pabellón mucho más ancho porque su tubo es cónico y se va ensanchando desde mucho antes de llegar al pabellón. Es un Jagdhorn!
