In the case of output putting Kendrick on top is wrong. Drake has successfully dropped more hits than Kendrick and Cole combined. Trust me I don’t put him above either one of them in any other category because quantity doesn’t beat quality. Just correcting your thoughts on stats of output. My personal opinion Kendrick is dropping consistently because of what Cole said on 7 min Drill, insinuating he’s inconsistent with dropping every 30 months. I see this consistency as a direct shot to Cole about him being out his prime and inconsistent. He’s sending a message, I’m waiting to see how Cole handles what I call the friendly competition he was looking for.

I think what we sometimes forget about the next Big 3 conversation is that these guys were the first Big 3. Before them the concept of a Big 3 didn’t exist in hip-hop. We had kings of New York, kings of the west, regional giants but what made the Big 3 so unique was the fact that these were artists who while definitely the respective giants in their region had nationwide and outright international appeal. They became bigger than any city or region to the point that the idea of a “king of New York” doesn’t even make sense to modern listeners. They’re by all accounts an anomaly in hip-hop. It was the perfect storm of circumstances, talent and the right backings that allowed all three to dominate the way they did simultaneously. Hip-hop had become big enough to contain 3 active giants at a time due to the internet, streaming and the rise in popularity of the genre. They were also distinct in the lanes they carved out for themselves with just enough overlap to maintain international appeal without having to directly challenge one another for their dominance. That in of itself is a remarkable thing that we don’t acknowledge enough. You could have Drake topping the charts, Kendrick sweeping at the Grammys and J. Cole having the heart of the people all at once without each feeling like that their position in the genre was threatened by the other. Add on top of that the fact that these guys are all remarkably stable, well adjusted people with little to no controversy surrounding them means they were built to last. The vices of the culture (drug abuse, criminal activity, gang affiliation, etc.) were things they were removed from so they had the added benefit of uninterrupted artistic longevity . Before that we had big artists cycle in and out of the top spots falling off for whatever but we’ve never really had an idea of a big 3 before then. Now I think we assume that this is just to be expected from the genre when it never really worked like that. We were extremely lucky to have experienced what might be a once in a lifetime phenomenon in music period. A perfect storm of factors and artists that made the idea of there even being a Big 3 an expectation as opposed to an exception in hip-hop.

Kendrick, keeping it conscious, pulling us back from the edge. Cole, with the realness and introspection, making us feel every word. And Drake, showing us the pitfalls, the temptations of fame and power and what not to do be or see like! It's a beautiful moment, bro. JCOLE is a lyricist too. You can tell from the words in his flow.

It's an old song but it was an unreleased version. I would love to hear a studio quality of it. ❤

Yo Jean that dre, jay and lil wayne group family breakdown of comparison with the new three was kinda dope. Never looked at it like that

Why did it not drop: it was 100% meant for the collab album that was in the works. They knew how fire it was and held it for the album but realized they didn’t have time to finish the album (confirmed by J Cole multiple times) and therefore just never got released. Although this was a known leak before the full song came out recently
