J-CORE▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲ Following the trend of prefixing a genre name with J- to signify Japanese origin (eg J-pop, J-rock etc.), J-core is an abbreviated term for Japanese hardcore dance music.

12 Fragments of Silence is actually Betwixt and Between's who was a freeform artist. He made pretty damn good tunes. You are right though, not all the songs on this channel are what I would consider the best of what said artists have to offer. I guess that just shows different tastes. Thanks for the suggestions, at least Ephexis seems interesting :)

This term can sometimes be used to describe hardcore punk music from Japan as well as just hardcore electronic/dance music. Notable J-core artists include DJ Shimamura, Buzzmasta, M-Project, DJ Chucky, DJ Technorch, DJ Sharpnel and REDALiCE

Though many only associate this term with artists such as DJ Sharpnel who are well known for their very Japanese-flavoured anime/film sampling hardcore, the umbrella term can be used to describe many kinds of Japanese-flavoured hardcore, such as happy hardcore, freeform, speedcore and terrorcore.

I've always thought of it as J-Core is far more melodic and complex than UK-hardcore. I'm not sure how exactly to describe it either, but I definitely do see where you're coming from. I find J-Core more interesting than E-Core as well :D

J-core, like Japanese music in general, is way more melodic than European music. You can tell the difference between Angerfist and Roughsketch for example, or between Fernanda Martins's European schranz and yujurie's. Also, since j-core is largely underground, there's a lot of Touhou j-core arranges. And since Touhou music is like the most melodic music ever, this makes for some really melodic techno. Hell, even Touhou speedcore is melodic.

J-core seems to have a certain tone that is common to Japanese artists from multiple genres. I don't know why but I don't find European hardstyle or happy hardcore very interesting while I like the Japanese counterparts. I guess "E-core" is too soft or I just haven't found the right artists/songs. Might also be my metalhead side that hates everything played in a club by default and is confused by eastern influences ;)

I think the "J-" label should be dropped... The reason being is that the whole "J-x" genre doesn't seem to get taken seriosuly in international terms... If you know what I mean.. Is the origin really that relevant? Why aren't tracks from the UK for example, labeled; "UK-x"? Kind of feels unfair, doesn't it? So I say - don't label the tracks like that - it's unfair, and I believe even artists feel kind of "different" by it. Let's globalise this music from EARTH! Other than that - great track!
