Great interview from a class act. I like how he’s not afraid to show his emotion and speak his mind. I love his message, but I hope he doesn’t get too bothered by internet trolls. I also love his answer to the last question haha.

I was never a big J'den Cox fan before, but he's really impressed me recently. Heck of a match against Bo, I didn't think anyone would do Bo like that. This was a great speech/interview, and I think J'den definitely shown he's the man to beat. Respect.

Haters are everywhere! He is so right!! If they cant beat you then they should train harder, change weight classes or retire. If he wasnt a man of color (in the U.S.) this wouldnt even be an issue. So sad we still have to go thru things like this in the 21st Century. Keep doing your thing!! #RealTalk #BlackMan

As someone who never thought of the color of his skin as the reason he doesn’t get proper respect, I do think that could be a reason. But J’den isn’t someone who has put points up in bunches, he was never too flashy, he had a lot of close matches (freestyle and folk-style) against adequate opponents. But that’s typically been J’den’s style. Also, some of his past USA teammates have dominated opponents and were flashy. This could be a reason he doesn’t get proper recognition as well, he’s humble and not an overly celebratory gentleman. Clearly he deserves every accolade he’s received and a phenomenal representative for the USA!

J'Den has been my favorite athlete for a couple years now. He has a rare humility and compassion that most high-level athletes seem to shed when they realize they are elite and people view them differently. He is smart, talented, but above all else is not conceited. I first noticed this when he would graciously shake his opponents' hands, even in defeat. His points made in this interview are, to me, one hundred percent correct. Not naming names, but a certain group seems to be all about their group and things are great when their guy wins, but lo and behold if a different AMERICAN becomes the world representative, there are crickets. We all know what I am talking about. I hope the elite athletes in all sports evolve the way J'Den has.

Wtf is he talking about? Haters? He's won a few medals in a row. I lurk on themat.com and haven't seen much hating. I may be wrong here, but please don't talk about minority status. Those Iranians and Dagestani wrestlers have it WAY worse than a black man in the US. Maybe he's not going there, but if he is, I'm just saying that. Anyways, best of luck. Go get the gold.

mrhat 75 He’s talking about on Flo. And on Reddit forums. Up until the past year, everyone was doubting him. He was never even in the conversation as one of the greatest wrestlers. It’s not until the past 12 months that the tide is turning and he’s getting the credit he deserves. People are actually speaking highly of his skills now.

He has a superpower no other wrestler has. He can make himself drenched in OIL in seconds. No grip I. Wrestling and no win in wrestling.
