I've never seen an idol do a song/MV like this: grungy, no choreo, hard rock sounds, horror elements, no GP appeal. Major sidenote, I’m a huge fan of alternative/ punk/metal rock and the fact that this is J-Hope‘s first solo song on his album just fills me with so much joy. I love that he’s taking more risks with his solo work and not to restrict himself to what people expect, he’s going for what he wants and what he loves to explore. That’s what makes him and the rest of the guys so amazing , whether as soloists or as a group, their constant thirst to try and challenge themselves. Honestly, Jung Hoseok never ceases to amaze me with his immense array of talents and versatility. Even before this song, he has always been so versatile (he has given us songs like MAMA, Baseline, Boy Meets Evil, Hangsang, Ego, 1Verse, Piece of Peace, Blueside), so I had no doubt that he was going to absolutely stun us all over again. He can do so much with just his voice and create so many sounds - it's incredible. Not to mention he is so bold and everything he does is always to such a high standard - the perfectionist in him wouldn't stand for anything less. His stage presence and showmanship is phenomenal. You can just tell this man was born to perform. Dude, she MELTED out of that chair. Loved the joke about Hobi...excuse me Jay actually having bones which I laughed too hard at. I saw the teaser pictures of him with the band but I was not actually EXPECTING a rock element in this song. I knew it was gonna be different from the teaser pictures but I was NOT expecting this dark grunge rock element at all. I like this experimentation that he's doing. It's like when Namjoon went from his 1st mixed tape to Mono, completely different sides and this feels like the same thing; from Hope World to Jack in the Box. I am loving this and I cannot wait for the album!!! And yes his hands are really pretty. He and Tae have pretty hands. Of course there's the Yoongi hand thing but it's different from Tae and Hobi.

Rock music and hip-hop are suitable for Jhope's deep voice and high pitch sound. He makes his own unique metal hip-hop in Rock; Jhope is no longer a street performer, but he is the hardest factory workman in his jumpsuits. He seems to want to express behind the dark music industry that constantly copies idols like machines in the box. Even though he has to live as a clown and zombie to become an idol of many people, he still feels thirsty to show his music more more more to his fans so that he can breathe in and out of what he feels is alive. He's a real genius for this metaphor to show a clown and zombie as an idol. Next time, I guess Jhope will come out of the dark box and go to the Sunlights; he will gain freedom as an artist. In chapter 2, he would shout freedom and feel alive outside the box and show more and more his music to more fans.

Ok so I mentioned this on a tweet but from the teaser I got a rock element so I thought if we got rock hip hop thought Rage Against the Machine sound wise they usually have more of a beat, up tempo, sometimes a bit funk sounding, and rapping (actually I think he could pull that off really well). Even though I still got a bit of that vibe with the echo and distortions on vocals in the production it learned even more rock then I anticipated and was slower tempo and hit hard on the chorus. Someone mentioned in the chat the gravelly low dragging of his voice during the prechorus reminded them a bit of the lead singer from Korn in a way which is a sentence I never thought I'd be typing. I mean it does have that angsty vibe to it. I'm still shooketh. I had no idea this wasn't even the title track for the album, had no idea until someone said in chat.
