Very gifted artist, one of the greatest ever. I don't think we'll see his like anytime soon.

I really loved JJ Cale and came across his music in the early 70s. I really like this live set, except when Christine Lakeland started singing lead. There's something about her limited range and her tone that just make me hit Fast Forward. But the guitar work behind her is still great and the band is tight.

Thank you so VERY much for posting this. It has made my day, and a wonderful way to close out 2023. Happy New Year All. Carry on Christine Lakeland - from just 1 of millions who will forever miss your husband J.J. 😂❤👍🙏💪🎶🎸

@DanC-go9lc Well said - hope your thoughtful wishes somehow reach Christine Lakeland on all of our behalf. A true gentleman, loved and missed, whose music I've enjoyed since I discovered him via Troubador, a title which I feel fits JJ like a glove. He sang of the times without preaching. Even on tough days I find any of his music uplifting. And his chatty voice between tracks on this album is so soothing it's almost medicinal! Thanks again for the cheerful sprit of your commenr. Best wishes to you and all for a fulfilling 2024. 🤗☮❤🎸🎷💃🕺

@@truthmatters1950 Loved your post, and agree with everything you said 100 %. Lucky to have seen JJ live 2 times -- once inside at a very small venue, the other time at outdoor fest with Waylon Jennings. Seeing JJ was about like sitting on his front porch listening to him play and tell stories. Such a humble guy with quirky sense of humor and irony.

@@DanC-go9lcRight back at you brother! And we’ll said on your description of it being as if you were on his porch, with a friend. And you’re a lucky man to have seen and heard him live…twice! Appreciate your kind words - keep putting them out there! Send positive energy to wherever you are😊☮️☮️🤝

Wish there was a tape of J.J. Cale with David Lindley at The Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach. His second to last performance there. He played a killer cover of Minglewood Blues.

@@ulpanaYou've inspired me into seriously trying to track down whatever source I can find: video, audio, pics (David Lindley was decked out in all tan fringed suede), etc. I have some connections so I suppose I should attempt using them. It was a really special show with an unusually small band. Thanks for the reply & inspiration my friend.
