Essa série história deveria ser obrigatória a todos os praticantes de Jiu Jitsu. Muito obrigado professor Pedro por compartilhar seu conhecimento.

I love how you guys keep Jiu-Jitsu close to it's roots. I feel a lot of modern BJJ has really lost touch with the tradition and history. It's a cool sport, but not so much a martial art at most schools.

Muito boa essa série, sem dúvida tem mais conhecimento histórico do que a maioria dos judokas.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A GUARD AND A POSITION?
@rascon97 Жыл бұрын
As I understand it guards are defensive positions where you are usually on the bottom, while pins are offensive positions where you are usually on top, both would be considered positions from my understanding

We can not really have a discussion of the development of Jiu-jitsu groundwork without the mentioning of Fusen-Ryu which defeated the Kodokan using ground work and the Butoku kai. The Butoku kai was the highly prestigious martial arts governing body with members of the Japanese royal family on the board. It had its own Judo department that was actually in competition with the Kodokan and issued its own government recognized belt ranks and teaching licenses. The main difference in their respective approaches to Judo was that the Butoku Kai version put a much heavier emphasis on ground work. Much of the modern ground work, like the knee bar and triangle choke (Sankaku jime) from the guard etc developed in Kyoto at Butoku Kai dojo and is documented. This and the Fusen-Ryu victories over the Kodokan is what led to the ground work boom and conflicts with the kodokan over rules and other issues. This kind of sophisticated and potential dangerous ground word, did not exist prior to the Judo movement and spread. Tenshin ground work seems quite rudimentary with simple hold downs etc.
