To all of those "kind" people bashing JK here... She states what you also believed until 5 years ago. Either you were also an evil person back then or you're dishonest right now. A man who adopts particular stereotypes associated with a woman isn't a woman. He doesn't "feel like a woman" because feeling is an abstract concept. He doesn't "identify as a woman" because only a woman can legitimately label themselves a woman. He isn't "adopting the role of a woman" because a woman requires specific biology for reproduction. And if "woman" was a role that you could choose then there would have to be a set of mandatory stereotypes that someone would need to adopt in order to be categorized as adopting the role of "woman". This list of stereotypes doesn't exist.

I loved Graham even more for having Rowling on, but now I hear he's called her view that biological sex matters, and matters most in certain contexts, 'problematic'. Oh dear. In what way is it 'problematic', Graham? Why is something that humans have instinctively known for thousands of years suddenly 'problematic', simply because a group of extremists have begun delluding themselves that they can alter reality by changing the meaning of words? Why is it 'problematic' for females to state the obvious fact that they need the public spaces in which they undress or sleep to be female-only? What's 'problematic' about female rape victims demanding female counsellors? What's 'problematic' about female inmates demanding that they not be forced to share prisons with male sex offenders? You see, Graham's not an idiot, so for him to have used that term, he cannot have thought it through. There's a massive problem with that - people unwittingly supporting an ideology that is causing: 1. the denial of sexuality (gender identity ideologues refuse to recognise that sexuality is based on sex, rather than gender identity, and so they're having lesbians kicked off their own dating sites for proclaming their same-sex attraction and refusing to date any males, even those who choose to appropriate womanhood and consider themselves to be women), 2. the rape of women (several male sex offenders have raped and sexually assaulted female inmates as a result of the self-id, the policy of placing in women's prisons men who 'identify' as trans, even where they are still physically intact males), 3. the unnecessary mutilation of a disproportionate number of gay and autistic children (they are over-represented among children who report experiencing gender dysphoria, which is a condition that desists in 80% of children and teens, if left untreated medically; once puberty-blockers are given, however, more than 95% of children end up transitioning, which strongly suggests that blocking normal puberty exacerbates gender dysphoria) and 4. the chilling of free speech (when women like Rowling speak out, they're threatened with rape and murder, companies like Paypal are banning those who speak out, the police in several countries have questioned and/or arrested people for criticising the ideology and in Ireland, the government recently saw fit to haul the national broadcaster over the coals for allowing critics of the ideology to speak on one of its programmes). I doubt Graham, like many of this ideology's naive supporters, is aware of any of this. To them, it's all about 'human rights' and they're utterly blind to the sinister side of gender identity ideology. What's truly 'problematic', Graham, is the 'magical thinking' of gender identity ideologues and their authoritarian and totalitarian forcing of this ideology down the rest of our throats. Why? Well, as the above shows, it's leading to truly crazy consequences, and the flagrant breach of other people's rights.

All your points are blown out of proportion, driven by fear. The real problem is toxic masculinity with cis men violently killing 52 women a week, and raping women. The biggest threat to a woman is her cis gendered make spouse. Concentrate on issues that actually matter, don’t hide your bigotry behind concern for women.
@jh4336
@jh4336 2 жыл бұрын
Gender and Sex are a different thing. This is a scientific fact. Your rhetoric is based on pure transphobia. Perhaps focus on your second point, and ask your friends and family if they've felt threatened by a trans person versus a cisgender man. I can guarantee you than every woman you know has felt afraid at best, or assaulted at worst, from a cisgendered man. Trans people are trying to just exist in this world and live their lives, leave them alone.

@@helix5441 The only rights she’s every criticised for trans people are those that conflict with the rights of (female) women. You might think that self-ID is a good enough qualification to use single-sex spaces, but there are a lot of women who disagree and who are being treated like pariahs simply for thinking that sex is more important than gender identity. You can be gender non-conforming, you can live in the societal role of a woman, but it doesn’t make you the same as someone who is actually female. And it’s also pretty offensive to many to be told that “feeling like a woman” (whatever that could possibly mean) or taking on gender stereotypes is what defines womanhood, not simply being female. Gender isn’t a personality, but people have started treating it like it is. You can be female or male with ANY personality, and any mix of the traits society calls masculine or feminine. Anyone who’s ever examined gender roles critically can see that they are frequently damaging and constraining things, and if you can’t see that there’s a problem with deciding that the societal role of woman is true womanhood, when it was created by a society led by men, then you need to think a bit more deeply about it. It would be grossly offensive to claim to be black as a white person purely because you identify with societal stereotypes of black people, so why is it OK to do it when it comes to gender?
