The Studies for cello (Études pour violoncello) by Jean-Louis Duport (1749-1819), are among the most popular cello etudes, and are very important part of cello pedagogical repertoire. Despite being over 200 years old, these etudes are still relevant to cellists today. Duport was a French cellist who, along with his brother Jean-Pierre Duport, revolutionized the performance of the cello. These etudes cover all aspects of cello technique such as developing right hand skills to play legato, staccato, spiccato and detache. Working on them with private cello teacher or with these video tutorials will help you to improve the left hand intonation accuracy, get confidence in making shifts and learning to play double stops.
