Thanks for taking the time to make this video. Just got my wife a 2015 Mazda CX5 and this screenshots was great . Wish I waited for the newer GDI engines that don’t need catch can because it has dual fuel injectors to keep the intake valve clean like ported engines.

Very well orchestrated video . Well spoken & descriptive of frustrating places us DIY ppl need help. Was Wondering does oil catch can almost prevent major carbon built up on intake valves ? Or is manual cleaning of intake valves with intake manual disassembly every 30 to 50k miles recommended ?

Keeping carbon build up off the intake valves is the main goal of the oil separator. While nothing is 100% effective, the oil separator will help to keep the valves cleaner for longer by filtering out the majority of the blow by circulating through the PCV system.

Thank you for the video. Very clear and every step detailed to where I would feel confident doing this. I have a 2024 cx-5 NA ordered. Would you recommend this to prevent the need for carbon cleaning or will it still need a cleaning at some point?

Thanks for the kind words! At minimum an oil separator will prolong the time before needing a carbon cleaning. If it is installed early and maintained properly it may prevent it all together.

Will this be ok fir California smog rules?? I have a 17 mazda 6 and was considering this.

As far as we know, an oil separator will not impact a smog inspection. However, we are unable to ship to California due to CARB regulations. Also, we have not had a Mazda6 in the shop to confirm fitment with this kit.

Perdóneme si esto no se traduce bien, estoy usando el traductor de Google. El separador de aceite reemplaza la línea PCV de fábrica del vehículo, por lo que una manguera va desde la válvula PCV hasta el lado filtrado de la lata y la otra va desde la lata hasta la vía de admisión. Básicamente es un filtro en línea en su línea PCV. Lo más probable es que se necesite alguna modificación para que esto funcione en su Mazda 6; no será un kit de ajuste directo.

Unfortunately we haven't had a turbo model in the shop as of yet.

There's a very good chance that this will work on the 2025's, we just haven't had one in the shop to confirm 100% yet. Your best bet is to follow along with this video and your vehicle and make sure everything still lines up. As far as the warranty goes, if you read the fine print on any warranty contract you will find a lot of reasons your warranty can become void; installing aftermarket parts can be one of them. However, per the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act proof would have to be provided that the after-market part caused the failure. If you need further clarification, contact your vehicles service department. Some are easier to deal with than others.
