@@lah1667 I liked your comment because I was most curious. I understand NPD is it's own personality cluster for diagnosis but I recall narcissistic traits may emerge under stress for any one. Isn't it just a matter of age of trauma or time since trauma event that could determine something significant about behaviour? I'm not saying anyone is anything, only that suffering for others is a little Jesus Christ as well as a dog. Covert narcissism is really a tough situation, glad you got out . @@ihdtdd I am an empath but on 2 separate occasions acted narcissistically some decades ago. The trigger was the same- I tried to manipulate a third party to get access to a primary source. I also had what I call 'empath blow ups', where I tolerated months or years of narcissistic abuse and reached the stage where I give the narcissist a piece of my mind and lost my patience. My anger levels are low to mid range so to lose emotional control is more a narcissist trait and seems to emerge under persistent provocation. I guess I'm saying that empaths can behave narcissistically in certain situations but it's not our core character. We're sympathetic, like people and are good listeners who are able to emotionally connect with others and are grateful for what they do for us . Narcs lack all of the above.
