Taipei Zoo proudly announced that Iriki's baby was born this morning on 1:52~1:54. Gorilla keepers, both on-duty and off-duty watched closely before monitors were overjoyed to start bidding on its gender! All are comforted that Iriki's baby get milk successfully and she is doing an excellent mother's job! All family members including Jabali came to show concerns with joy! Keepers noticed D'jecco constantly mating with females last year and gave Iriki pregnancy test and found "positive" last August. Her due date should be in late May and early June. Keepers found her tummy position changed, nipples popped with bigger boobs in late May, and kept a closer look on her labor day. Last night, Iriki ate only watermelon and tomato for dinner along with long lying rests. More keepers were assigned to help out her delivery since her water broke. She gave birth on 1:52~1:54 in the morning, placenta discharged on 2:25. Since all family members nicely interact with Iriki and her baby, keepers opened the gate to let them come out to exercise freely. Iriki carries her baby out with care, what a wonderful world~

Iriki is so beautiful and is guarding and showing so much love to her new baby. Even Baby J cant resist getting close to his new sibling. I HOPE with the zoo being closed we can still see videos of Iriki and the new baby! This is wonderful!!! Sending the Beautiful new mother, Iriki and her new bundle of love many wishes of great health, blessings and happiness!! Thanks to the Zoo staff for doing such a fantastic job with a limited staff and hard time with the rise of Covid there. The staff works so hard to care for these Animals/Apes in dire circumstances and give so much love and care. THANK YOU STAFF!! Tayari gets jealous of Iriki spending time alone with D'Jeeco, but she is also very protective at times of Iriki when she feels she needs to. D'Jeeco in front waits for both wives, while (tomboy) Tayari closely guards behind Iriki (1:08) like troops in a war while new mother Iriki rushes to get new baby back towards the house hut 😍. Such human characteristics. I 💘 this troop! 😘

先前荷蘭直播了寶寶的寶寶命名活動，順便跟大家更新一下寶寶近況～ 2/21 蓋希(Tayari媽媽)花了半小時生產，保育員沒有目擊，寶寶跟一般男人一樣不在乎啦，有700斯瓦希里名字被投稿，最後挑選5名入決賽，最後是“Kiango”勝出，意思是“光”！ 4/29轉19歲的蓋希是獨立自主的媽媽，孩子6、7個月大後會開始自己探索，喝奶會喝到2.5歲。目前沒有其他女性懷孕中……“寶寶，加油啦～” 寶寶有輕微心臟問題，有接受治療並給了他安靜一點的休息環境，現在重148公斤，慢慢增重中，預計會到160~165公斤，以後Kiango也會長的和爸爸一樣帥的銀背猩猩！成年銀背猩猩重160~200公斤，女生重80~100公斤。

Updates on Bao Bao's baby naming event-- Gyasi gave birth on 2/21 and her boy was named "Kiango", a Swahili name that means "Light". Gyasi who turned 19 on 4/29 is an independent mother, she is also Tayari's mother, Jabali's grandmother. Bao Bao doesn't help out any parenting, he has slight heart conditions and received medical cares and a quiet space to rest. He is 148 kgs now, will gain weights slowly till 160~165 kgs. Kiango will grow up a sliverback gorilla that weighs about 160~200 kgs, for now he has a lot of growing to do, will explore by himself till 6~7 months old, wean till 2.5 years old. That's a little sad no other females are pregnant, Bao Bao, do some homework, please ~~
