The truth is barely any Chinese Parents, espcially first gen immigrants are anything close to that. They completely Americanized the Asian parents in this show. Amy Cha is much closer to reality.

@@harveylin3548 Agreed. But the show was adapted from Eddie Huang’s memoir so it only speaks for his family.

這部影集是改編自黃頤銘的著作 “Fresh Off the Boat: A Memoir”,他本人是一個出生於華盛頓的美國華裔,父母皆是從台灣移民至美國的台灣人 作者本人現在已經 41 歲,其父母更是在更早之前便已經移民美國 再加上這本書本來就是一個在美國出生長大的華僑寫的 而非在台灣出生長大才搬過去 在現在的台灣人眼中會覺得共鳴感較低其實是很合理的事情

Yeah a lot people say this show make asians look bad, but back in the 90's, before the internet, before the liberal movements of today, it is really that hard for An Asian family to make it in a "red" state coming from Chinatown in a much more diverse place. Today that's not so much a problem anymore.
