You know i never thought about the fact that even here in parts of America, a good vacation is a 5-6 hour flight. And that's really only the Caribbean. I would love to someplace where I can hop on a plane and be in a different country in a few hours.

Honestly that's been one of the best parts about living here. We can honestly take like a 3 day weekend trip to places like japan/Korea or Hong Kong and its totally worth it

I love this list and wish I knew how to speak Mandarin. Can you get by with English? What is the health care like? Wait times to see specialists (if you know)?

Thanks so much for watching. You can definitely get by with just english. I(Peter) am currently self studying mandarin and definitely can't speak very much yet and have no troubles day to day. Health care is great here. To see a regular doctor like if you have a some sort of virus is basically instant. Sandy saw a specialist for her ear once and she got in on the same day. Way quicker than it would be back in Canada.

About 20 years ago I stayed in Vancouver for a summer. Usually I ate at McDonald's for lunch and sometimes I walked to Chinatown for dinner just because I felt really hungry and eating rice can make me feel full. Usually they charged me around 7 Canadian dollars for a meal and that was about 50 percent higher than that I ate in Taiwan at that time. My accommodation was near Arbeutor bus station and on Crescent Road. Have you heard of these places ?

Hm maybe you mean Arbutus? The prices is Vancouver have gone up even more. I think meals on average here in Taipei are still like 50% cheaper than what we would pay in Vancouver. and we totally understand not feeling full until having some rice :) Here in Taipei I live off biandang(便當) for lunch. So delicious and so cheap
