I do something similar with all trolling lures except i don't use trebles. I tie on basic J or octopus hooks that dangle back past the lure. sometimes i use 2 in a mooching rig style with the back hook away from the lure for the short strikes. The reason i don't use trebles is because they can get so badly tangled up in the landing nets. i actually swap out all trebles for J hooks.

with tha slit ring on the upper end of bead chain will that plug still slip up leader? looks like not. plug should slide up during hook up.i was always told? i am new to this , we fish ontario olcott>
