Klinsmann could score from almost any angles, and equally good with feet, and head. He had no weakness, fast, skillful, excellent scorer, good reader for the game. He's one of my favorite soccer players till these days.

The absolute Striker....he would rule today like he did back then....with today's heavy play from the flanks. Back in the 90ies teams were more middle prone with a 10 playing passes, organizing the game. Today Klinsmann would be getting the flanks a athletic player like him transforms into goals.

I saw him twice whilst at Tottenham and he was very entertaining and athletic. Like a gymnast. It is always better in the flesh and you could really see his talent. Did one of those diving celebrations too although it was in the far corner so I didnt have a great view, I did have a good view of his strikes and goals in that game. He was going right through defenders and scissors kicks and all sorts. I was just a little boy back then (1995) but I really remember he was the stand out player in both matches and including both teams. Maybe not the best ever but a definate hall of fame type guy.

he had originally been a decathlete, but he also had the heart of a lion. As to his skill, opinion in Germany is that it was not as good, especially when he had a bad time (he is sensitive, imo he can't relate with other people that great apart from football, and had great ups and downs). Still, wether he was still playing today or back then, he could be a spectators dream, and a legend.

Greatest striker of modern football. Klinsmann scored so many cool goals. Still remember his iconic goal he scored against Russia at Euro 96. Don't see such goals very often in modern game. Also his header against Yugoslavia at WC 90 is very memorable one. And elegant volley against USA at WC 98. One of a kind.

That goal against Russia was indeed a real beauty indeed. Everybody who says that Klinsmann had no technique should watch this. Two touches and he had left the defender behind by five meters within a split second. His full body control regardless wether he was jumping, falling or running was amazing.

He could be really good but he was not perfect in those areas, lost the ball a lot, wasted many chances. His strength were his acrobatics (no pun here), speed and stamina. He could jump much higher, turn around much more, run much faster and do it much longer than anyone else, due to his abilities in decathlon.

He was 34, together with Matthäus around 38-39 and the others you mentioned all deep in their 30s, that was one of the worst teams we ever had at a world cup. Coach Berti Vogts didn't have the confidence to decide against those legends and for players with less of a "lobby", if you will.. Croatia's greatest generation (until 2018) destroyed us in the quarters .. There was no life, no spirit in this team. The title in 96 was already very lucky
