Only reason Hitler wasn’t focused on the atomic bomb right away was because a Jew was the one who proved the theory of nuclear fission. However Oppenheimer did not know when Hitler will focus on the idea of the atomic bomb. Basically the reason he focused on the atomic bomb was for many reasons, 1. so that the allied powers have the hands on the nuclear weapon and 2. So that the war could be ended sooner and many allied powers lives could be saved.
