Many elements of this arrangement reminded me instantly of the legendary Isaac Hayes rendition (historical classic) "Walk On By." As I always say: Chops gives you thrills. Pocket pays the bills. Truly a superb job. A real drummer knows when to lay pocket along with complementing the arrangement with style, subtlety, smoothness and silkyness. To hear this Gentleman play tells me he listens meticulously where the foundation doesn't get in the way of the entire ensemble. This is the my 1st Comment yet from other tracks I checked out Mr. Sullivan is consistent!! Chops has its place, yet imagine if Mr. Sullivan's approach was to play every 32nd/64th note throughout the entire joint...He'd be no different than the plethora of drummers whose sole mission is to chop away on everything, regardless. Simplicity is the most difficult to master. Allowing any music genre to "breathe" clean air versus smoke inhalation will pay your bills with the greatest of ease for as long as you want, for you will be hired over and over again and again by the same people as long as they're in the industry. I say this because I am a true example of the content that's within this Comment! Mr. Sullivan you will conquer the goals manifested by the quality of drumming you continue to execute. Congratulations. Continue to maintain the K.I.S.S. principles and concepts.💯🎧🎶🎵🎉🎊☺️😊🌞😃🌞💸💵🙏🏿🙏🏾🙏🏽🙏🏼🙏🏻🙏
