Cantata BWV 215 is dedicated to Friedrich August I (1694-1733), Elector of Saxony. In 1709, under the name of Augustus II, he became king of Poland, which in this cantata is called «Sarmatia».

Wonderful performance from everyone and thanks so much for tackling this remarkable one-off (!) masterpiece. No wonder thrifty Bach recycled much of it. during the (endless) pandemic. Daniel Johannsen (one of Vienna's finest musical ambassadors) never ceases to amaze, along with Peter Kooij, but this is truly an 'army of generals", led by the Grand General, Prof. Dr. Rudy Lutz. Very best wishes for the Christmas season (and New Year) to everyone. Peter Watchorn

Why do the choir singers wear the masks when not singing, when they do not need them when they are? I guess most people know that the masks do almost nothing, a show of an attempt of safety, perhaps. The music was still wonderful.
@davebarclay44292 жыл бұрын
The same point could be made about the conductor! If the non-wind players are all masked why isn't Herr Lutz?
@konrad.bach4ever2 жыл бұрын
@@davebarclay4429 Please stop with these Corona-topics. Here it's about music. If they hadn't worn masks, they wouldn't have been allowed to perform. so, be glad that this performance could take place and forget about the masks. They will not last forever, but the music will.
@peteranelson2 жыл бұрын
Under the circumstances of the performance, masks may indeed do little. Otherwise, the preponderance of medical and scientific evidence is that masks reduce the spread of respiratory disease, including COVID-19. See, for example, Howard et al. 2021 Proc Natl Acad Sci USA 118(4):e2014564118. Unless you have multiple, peer-reviewed studies from reputable journals to cite to the contrary, shut the fuck up.
