True but better still boy trebles, for adults of either sex have too much harmonic development that ruins the sound. I wish I knew if Bach himself used boys or countertenors but have been unable to find out, though I'd guess the former. How ignorant we are today by comparison that we must resort to adults to do what boys did in Bach's time. I wish folk realized how pitiful today's Bach "scholarship" really is, e.g. the infamous BWV 1096 where they shamefully, embarrassingly gave what even I knew was a Pachelbel work a BWV number! How foolishly most don't know one of the most fundamental logical fallacies (i.e. falsehoods) is the "argumentum ad baculum" or argument from "authority" since vaunted "authorities" are just as good at being wrong as you and sometimes more so sometimes due to their proud arrogance stupidly refusing to be questioned.

Most cases I'd agree, but wow this countertenor is superb. Koopman uses a female alto, and I must say I like this guy better.
