@jean-yvesPrax Жыл бұрын

There are some modifications to the bass made by Bach, hence why this is a parody.

This shows the inferiority of Bach respect to Pergolesi
@abdul-hadidadkhah1459 Жыл бұрын
Not really, Bach was a better keyboard player than Pergolesi and his St Matthews Passion is by far superior to anything Pergolesi could write. Bach's guilty pleasure was Italian music.
@Olbemor_III_the_emperor Жыл бұрын
@@abdul-hadidadkhah1459 You don’t know Pergolesi’s music: Bach was great armonist and theorist, but his music lacks melody. The sensivity of Pergolesi make him better. St Mattews passion is a masterpiece, but can’t equal Salve Regina and Stabat Mater.
@abdul-hadidadkhah1459 Жыл бұрын
@@Olbemor_III_the_emperor I do know Pergolesi, how presumtious of you to even suggest that. There are plenty of melodic Bach pieces, it just shows you have a very one dimensional perspective on what good melody is. Furthermore it is wholly subjective to say that just because you don't like Bach's melodies that his music is inferior. Also simply copying a piece of music doesn't suggest that his music is inferior either. Granted they are two different styles and eras of music, but that doesn't make either composer better. Bach has stood the test of time unlike Pergolesi who hasn't because his music has no relevance outside the classical era in which he essentially started, along with the other Neopolitan composers. The St Mat. Passion surpassed Stabat Mater and Salve Regina in that it put Bach back on the map in the 19th century and revived his name. The same can not be said of the Stabat Mater or Salve Regina.
@Olbemor_III_the_emperor Жыл бұрын
@@abdul-hadidadkhah1459Indeed I spoke about my personal opinion, but there are also facts that cannot be denied: almost every composer after Pergolesi agreed to consider him one of the best, or the best composer of all time: Pergolesi in 4 years changed an entire musical style, and his influence on vocal music was enormous: he inspired the intere classicist style; in France his music was worshipped by the most importants philosophers, and his Stabat is recognized as a masterpiece even now: Bach’s fame instead is recent: as you say, before 19th century he was forgotten, and however, if a composer is considered important now, it doesn’t mean that is superior to the others. Pergolesi deserve more relevance than Bach, and he will be reconsidered in the future. So, you can prefer Bach to Pergolesi, but doesn’t make it better. However, @leodepuydt308 could explain you the question better than me
